After a year on the practice squad in 2012, former Lake Zurich High School quarterback Matt Blanchard impressed in the Chicago Bears' first preseason game of 2013.

Blanchard completed 15/18 of his passes for 194 yards, while throwing one interception against the Carolina Panthers. He added 26 yards rushing on just four carries.

Last night, against the San Diego Chargers, Blanchard was not as fortunate and barely had the chance to compile any statistics.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns, Blanchard has a broken knuckle in his left hand and the team is now on the market for another quarterback.

Before leaving the game to get X-rays, Blanchard completed one pass for negative two yards and rushed once for four yards.

We will keep an eye on Blanchard's health and progression if he is able to get back on the field during remainder of the preseason.
