Lake County charges three with unlawful use of credit card

Three people have been arrested for their alleged roles in a pickpocket scam that began in January at the Deer Park Town Center. Michelle L. Johnson, 26, of Chicago; Marva D. Karikari, 40, of Darien; and Rickey Anderson, 45, of Chicago, have all been charged with unlawful use of a credit card, a Class 3 felony, in conjunction with the incidents. On Jan. 15 and Jan. 19, the offenders are alleged to have entered Panera Bread and Noodles and Company, in Deer Park, with the intention of taking wallets from purses hanging over chairs, according to a release issued by …

Members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted to bar members of Congress and their staff from using inside legislative information in personal stock trading. Members empowered presidents to veto discretionary-spending items providing that both houses of Congress then vote to approve of the rescissions. Members also required new rules for figuring the budgetary impact of federal loan programs. Senators, meanwhile, approved a federal aviation budget, and they advanced a bill to authorize federal road, bridge, transit and highway-safety programs through Sept. 30, 2013.

The bitter cold temperatures that hit the Chicago area over the weekend are expected to give way to snow Monday and then milder weather by the end of the week. Temperatures are expected to climb to 35 degrees on Monday, when there is an 80 percent chance of snow after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service’s website. Lake Zurich High School Orchesis Dance Company will present “Dive into Dance” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Lake Zurich High School Performing Arts Center, 300 Church St. The Orchesis Dance Company is an extracurricular activity and the members are selected after tryouts. The dance company begins rehearsing in the summer and ends their season with a two-day show. The show will once again feature Youth Dancers who participated in a workshop hosted by the company. Mark Kirk’s condition has been upgraded from “fair” to “good.” Doctors hope to be able to re-attach the 8-inch-by-4-inch section of his skull that had to be removed after he suffered a stroke two weeks ago.
