Park Ridge hospital delivers first baby 23 minutes into 2013

PARK RIDGE — It only took 23 minutes for the first baby to claim a 2013 birthday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
The hospital announced its first baby of the year was born via cesarean at 12:23 a.m. Tuesday.
Robyn Ali, public affairs and marketing coordinator for the hospital, reported that the girl, named Jacklyn Herrera, weighed in at 5 pounds, 12 ounces.
She is the daughter of Arlington Heights residents Aileen Herrera and Eduardo Jiminez, and joins two older sisters.
The hospital gave the baby’s parents a gift basket that includes bottles, bibs and booties, Ali said.
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital delivered 4,003 babies last year, according to preliminary year-end figures provided by the hospital.
The 2013 title-holder for the first baby born in the Chicago area, however, went to Aydan Alvarado, who arrived into the world at Saint Anthony Hospital in Chicago.
Weighing in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces with a time of birth clocked at 12:08 a.m., baby Aydan Alvarado was welcomed by parents Georgina Acosta and Fernando Alvarado.
Also greeting the early moments of 2013 was Hope Fiddan, born at 12:13 a.m. at St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates.
The 2013 crop of New Year’s babies didn’t come quite as close to midnight as previous years. Last year, two babies were born at two Chicago-area hospitals within 1/10th of a second of midnight. In 2011, a baby girl was born at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood at 12:00:01 a.m.
