Charges filed in stabbing at Lake Zurich McDonalds

LAKE ZURICH — A 21-year-old Wheeling man has been charged with three felonies in connection with the Dec. 5 stabbing of a North Barrington man in the parking lot of the McDonalds restaurant at 653 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich, police announced Sunday.

Maxwell S. Younger, 21, of 699 Cherrywood Drive, Wheeling, faces charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to the Lake Zurich police news release.

Younger could receive sentences of two to five years in a state penitentiary, police said.

He was in custody of Lake County Sheriff’s Department and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Just before 2 a.m. Dec. 5, Lake Zurich police officers responded to the scene of a reported assault in the parking lot of the McDonalds.

The Lake Zurich Police Criminal Investigation Division, which led the investigation, released security photos of its suspect shortly after the stabbing. Investigators also released a description of its person of interest: a while male, approximately 17-22 years old, who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The offender also was described as tall and thin, with short brown hair and no facial hair. Police said the offender left the scene in a dark colored passenger vehicle.

The Department offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest.

The stabbing victim was rushed to Good Shepherd Hospital in Lake Barrington for treatment. An update on his condition was not provided Tuesday.
