Lake Zurich, Kildeer police blotters for Aug. 20 - Aug. 27, 2012

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Lake Zurich

BURGLARY

Officers investigated a report Aug. 23 in which a complainant told police that a former tenant removed property from his home after forcing the rear door open. The incident occurred on the 600 block of Ginger Trail. The matter is still under investigation.

Jewelry, cash and an iPad were stolen from a residence Aug. 23 on the 600 block of Waterford Drive. According to the police report, the items were stolen while the home owner was at work. The matter is still under investigation.

DAMAGE

Police investigated a report Aug. 22 that a vehicle was damaged after an unknown subject attempted to pry open the door of the car while it was parked on the 100 block of Crescent Road. Damage estimates were not provided.

Police investigated a report Aug. 22 that the rear window of a vehicle was damaged while it was parked on the 200 block of Whitney Road. Damage estimates were not provided.

DRUGS

Michael R. Bond, 25, of 780 Harvest Drive, Lake Zurich, was arrested Aug. 27 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after he was pulled over on Oakwood Road at Commerce Drive. He also was cited with two counts of illegal lane use. According to the police report, Bond may face additional charges pending the results of laboratory analysis. Bond was released on bond and given a court date of Sept. 24 in Waukegan.

Christopher G. Carlberg, 26, of 25686 N. Stoney Kirk Court, Hawthorn Woods, was arrested Aug. 27 and charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on Cuba Road at Route 12. He also was cited for illegal lane use. He was taken into custody and later released on bond. He was assigned a court date of Sept. 18 in Waukegan.

DUI

Anne Bain, 67, 207 Foxfire Road, Lake Zurich, was charged Aug. 23 with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 12 and South Old Rand Road. She also was cited for obstructing traffic. Bain was taken into custody and later released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. She was issued a Sept. 24 court date in Waukegan.

Jesus Bueno, 41, 836 Canterbury Drive, Crystal Lake, was charged Aug. 22 with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop near the intersection of Cuba and Ela roads. He also was cited for failing to signal when required and illegal lane use. Bueno was taken into custody and later released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. He was issued an Oct. 1 court date in Waukegan.

Patricia T. Shanahan, 56, of 61 Mariner Lane, Fox Lake, was arrested Aug. 21 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop on Route 12 near Ela Road. She also was cited for illegal lane use and operating an uninsured vehicle. According to the police report, Shanahan failed subsequent field sobriety tests. She was taken into custody and later released on bond. She was assigned a court date of Sept. 10 in Waukegan. ~.

THEFT

Margaret A. McKinnon, 34, of 99 E. Dundee Road, Wheeling, was arrested Aug. 21 and charged with retail theft at a TJ Maxx store, 725 W. Highway 22. The police report states that McKinnon removed merchandise without paying. The total loss is valued at $69.99. McKinnon was released on bond and given a Sept. 7 court date in Mundelein.

TRAFFIC

Daria R. Smoter, 37, 489 Blakely Parkway, Barrington, was charged Aug. 26 with driving without a valid driver’s license on the 100 block of West Main Street. She also was cited for making an illegal turn. Smoter was taken into custody and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond. She was issued an Oct. 5 court date in Mundelein.

Alejandro Tapia, 28, 1638 E. Rainbow Bay Lane, Palatine, was charged Aug. 25 with driving without a valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured vehicle after a traffic stop near the intersection of Route 12 and Ela Road. He also was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash. Tapia was taken into custody and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond. He was issued an Oct. 5 court date in Mundelein.

WARRANT

Sergio Sanchez, 27, 1638 Rainbow Bay Lane, Palatine, was arrested Aug. 26 on a warrant issued for failure-to-appear charges. Sanchez was taken into custody near the intersection of Route 12 and Ela Road. Sanchez was released after posting a $300 bond and issued a Sept. 28 court date in DuPage County.

Kildeer

DUI

William J. Stark, 55, 2514 Lincoln Ave., Long Grove, was charged Aug. 21 with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop near the intersection of Long Grove and North Rand roads. He also was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. No further information was provided.

FRAUD

A complainant reported Aug. 23 that an unknown subject posed as his or her “grandson” to receive a wired cash transfer. The loss was estimated at $2,475.

A complainant reported Aug. 21 that fraudulent charges were made on his or her credit cars. The loss was estimated at $128.

TRAFFIC

Rachel J. Brooks, 59, of 781 E. Whispering Oak Drive, Palatine, was charged Aug. 18 with driving without a valid driver’s license and speeding. Brooks was taken into custody near the intersection of Long Grove Road and Middleton Drive. She was released on a personal recognizance bond and issued a Sept. 27 court date in Mundelein.
