Theatre in the Woods will hold auditions for A. R. Gurney’s “The Dining Room” at 7 p.m. Jan. 15-16 at The Estonian House, 14700 Estonian Lane (off Milwaukee Avenue, just north of Deerfield Road) in Riverwoods. Set in the dining room of a typical well-to-do household, the action is comprised of a mosaic of interrelated scenes. The actors change roles, personalities, and ages as they portray a wide variety of characters. Each of the 18 vignettes introduces a new set of people and events, allowing each actor to portray 9–10 different characters. Auditions will be by cold readings and improvisation. Director Brent A. Stringfield is casting three women and three men. All ages and types are encouraged to audition. Headshots and resumes are extremely helpful but not required to audition. Barrington Writers Workshop meets weekly at the Barrington Area Public Library, 505 N. Northwest Highway, Barrington.
