Three candidates file for Lake Zurich village president

Three residents filed nominating papers by Wednesday’s 5 p.m. deadline for positions on the Lake Zurich Village Board.
In the race for village president, incumbent Suzanne Branding has two challengers: Trustee Tom Poynton and Mary Black, both running as independents.
Branding headlines the United Lake Zurich Party, which also includes trustee candidates Helmut Gerlach, Todd Minden, Ildiko Schultz and Debra Vander Weit.
The trustee race also offers five independent candidates: Jeffrey Halen, Geoffrey Petzel, Daniel Stanovich, Mark Loewes and Jim Beaudoin.
Village Clerk Kathleen Johnson will seek re-election unopposed.
