BUFFALO GROVE — With 155 of 157 precincts counted, Republican incumbent Matt Murphy holds an overwhelming lead in his bid for reelection to the state Senate’s 27th District seat.

Murphy held a 54,916 to 35,654 vote advantage over Democratic challenger David Page, a business owner from Arlington Heights.

“You always appreciate the support of the people that you represent,” Murphy said Tuesday night. “It’s always really, really humbling to put your name on the ballot and have people chose you.”

Page’s campaign officials said they were not ready to comment.

When he returns to Springfield, Murphy said he plans to address the state’s economic issues, and its image.

“Just trying to get the fiscal house in order, so that we can begin to be a job-growth state again,” he said. “And, make this government one that the people can be proud of again, rather than ashamed of.”

The 27th district includes portions of Buffalo Grove, Barrington and South Barrington, Arlington Heights, Inverness, Palatine, Wheeling and Prospect Heights.
